The Port 12 hour has been run very successfully for the past 4 years by Hastings Valley Mountain Bike Riders, in conjunction with a number of excellent sponsors. The Telegraph Point track is a fun, flowy blast and the event is always a hoot... so why change??? Well, so that more club members can actually get to ride their own event, Refusenix Racing have been asked to help with proceedings in 2012. As for changes... what changes? Just more of a good thing... twice as much to be exact!

Our idea is simple. There are currently no 24 hour events between the greater Newcastle area and southeast Queensland. With a cracking 12 hour track already marked out it only takes more coffee to make it a 24. It won't have gone unnoticed, either, that the 24 hour format ties very neatly to the predilections of home town boy Jason English, he's the World 24hr solo Champion, just in case you hadn't noticed.

By getting our calendar booking in early we are trying to notch the Port 24 neatly into what's becoming a gloriously crowded endurance season. For local-ish types, the NEMTB "Piney" 12 hour will provide an excellent "training" hit-out in early March and those looking further afield won't have to choose between Port and the Mont or National Solo Champs - heck, you can do 'em all!!!

Any die-hard fans of the 12 hour needn't be disappointed because it's still here. Actually, we have TWO 12 hour races. The trad non-stop format - from 12:00 midday to 12:00 midnight is now a solo-only affair, proudly sponsored by MERIDA Bikes

And the new 6 x 6 is an exciting addition to the format for those without lights or who actually enjoy sleeping instead of mountain biking, 12:00-6:00pm Saturday, then sleepy bo-bos, and 6:00am to 12:00 midday Sunday. And then there's the 6 hour, too.... so much racing, so little time!

      Format :

24 hour solo and teams categories. For riders wishing to participate in the full event duration. Race starts at 12:00 noon Saturday, finishes 12:00 noon Sunday. 24 hour solo riders will probably form a small minority of competitors but it is they who bring the mystique and appeal, which no other race can match. 12 hour solo event. Race starts simultaneously with the 24 hour event (12 noon Saturday) and finishes at midnight.  ENTRY AND MORE INFO -  12 hour Categories                                 

 "6 x 6" format. A format rapidly gaining popularity. Featured in the 24 hour solo National Championships and Jet Black 24. 6 x 6 riders start with the pack at 12:00 noon Saturday and ride until 6:00pm that day, returning to the track at 6:00am Sunday, finishing at mid day.
